Terms of Reference
"Working in the community with children who have developmental disabilities” is a Community of Practice (CoP) which uses an online collaborative platform to share experiences and discuss issues and opportunities around implementation of the training manuals, ‘Getting to know cerebral palsy’, ‘JUNTOS’, and 'ABAANA Early Intervention'.
Purpose
The CoP will facilitate the sharing, creation and management of knowledge by members in 3 areas:
• Learning and Development: through facilitating feedback on the training resource ‘Getting to know cerebral palsy’, ‘JUNTOS’, and 'ABAANA Early Intervention'. You will be able to share experiences about the material and how it is being rolled out and adapted in different countries and contexts.
• Networking: You will be able to connect with peers, experts and technical advisors, and explore partnerships. There will be a huge amount of expertise across the different members, and you can build alliances in your country and/or region to enhance coordination and synergies between individuals and organisations
• Exchange and innovation: You can exchange ideas and materials, so you don’t have to ‘reinvent the wheel’. You will be able to contribute and interact with other members to learn and innovate.
Membership
The CoP is for teachers, CBR workers, parents, therapists, and anybody who works with children with cerebral palsy and their families in the community. To ensure that discussions run smoothly, we will promote some rules and responsibilities:
• To create an environment of trust and to foster insightful, non-threatening discussions.
• To be respectful and use appropriate language and to listen and respond to each other with open and constructive minds.
• To give some time to share ideas and experiences, and to share collectively in the management of the community
• To discuss topics aligned with the purpose of the community
• Not to promote commercial goods or services
• Not to plagiarise the work of others or breach copyright laws when sharing published works
Members are welcome to participate in a personal or professional capacity, or on behalf of their organisation. Where necessary, they should clearly define and separate these roles.
Terms of Use
LSHTM and CBM reserve the right to moderate comments we consider to be in breach of the membership rules and responsibilities. Serious breaches may result in revocation of membership.
Data Policy
"Working in the community with children with developmental disabilities" respects the privacy of all its members. We aim to use personal information fairly, keep it secure and make sure it is accurate and up to date.
We do not collect any personal information about you (e.g. name, address, telephone number, email address) unless you have provided it to us voluntarily via this discussion group. If you do not want your personal data collected, please do not submit it to the group.
How we use personal information
We may use the personal information that you provide:
• To provide you with appropriate services in this community and these may include sending your further information,
• For the purpose of research and to help us plan and improve our services to this group.
We do not now, and do not intend to, sell, rent or market personal data about you to third parties.
